Provision of Internet Literacy training for Adults to Longford County Libraries.
The course consisted of five modules, spread over a five week period, consisting of:
- The Internet in 2013 and beyond
Starting with a class survey, moving on to the basics of what the internet actually is and conculding with a demonstration of the main devices used to connect to the internet (The Smartphone, The Tablet Computer, The Traditional Computer etc)
- Setting Up and using E-mail
- Searching and Researching Online
How to set up and use an email account, moving to an explanation of what a Search Engine is and how to use one to find out more about what interests us.
- Reading News Online
- Introduction to Social Media
How to get the news and the radio on the internet, moving to an introduction to what Social Media actually is and how it works.
Introduction to the two most common Social Media Networks. How to use them, how to load photos, how to engage in conversation on them, how to access them from mobile devices etc
- Wrap Up
How to set up and use Skype on computers and mobile devices concluding with a wrap up of the previous four sessions.
