This blog is the personal sandbox of Content Surgeons founder, John Walsh. He describes the blog as follows:
I wanted to create a place where I can have fun publishing whatever I want, free of any strategic thinking or design.
This is my non-work blog. I publish literally anything I find interesting on virtually any toipic (staying away from work related material as much as possible).
The blog is made for an audience of one, i.e. myself! However if you enjoy the content, that’s great too!
The content of the blog tends to lean towards Space Exploration, Inspirational and Comedy related topics. Again, the whole point here is that there is no real plan, no real strategy other than just to have fun while blogging !!
Story of the logo
Initial Basic Designs
In working out the direction of this particular design, two versions were created in basic form and tested on the website. The dark brown version didn’t work, however the colors used in the second version did push the design towards using a bright colour or colours.
The new logo was inspired by John’s recent trips to Ibiza (he waited until he was 38, with a baby, before going there for the first time !). The International Nightclub chain, PACHA, is a huge influcnce on the island’s clubbing culture, and so it was decided to create a logo for JohnWalsh.me using Pacha as an inspiration.
It was felt that in this case, including a graphic in the logo wasn’t approporiate, and instead the focus was to be on typography only. So after working with a Graphic Designer based in Australia, the Font “ESCAPE” was chosen with a single color (two colors were considered) of #af3e22
